We took our Dnepr (BMW replica's) with us to ride whilst we were there. It was great riding through all the coastal villages following the coast road tracing the steps of the fighting forces of World War Two.

My mate took his Royal Enfield as well. The bikes sounded fantastic with the exhaust sound bouncing off the village walls as we passed through _________________ If it works ok, "LEAVE IT THE FUCK ALONE". |

Hi Tony! Must've come that close to crossing paths, but didn't see you! We stayed at Manvieux, just uphill from Arromanches, and got back last night. Couldn't find your site "on the hills at Port-en-Bessin", but were at the film show and fireworks! We did Pegasus too, but spent most time around Utah, St. Mere Eglise, and St. Marie du Mont - the latter with a US camp all round the church, including a beat-up Kubel and a couple of MG34's. Also Dead Man's Corner, on the approach to Carentan, with a fantastic museum and shop, well worth visiting - even had a resin MG34 made for "Band of Brothers" (at 600 Euros???). Also an unusual "GI Encampment" museum at St. Mere Eglise. Also saw a couple of Kubels hammering down the lanes, though both in "captured" guise with white stars! On D-Day itself we got involved with a British re-enactment lot with 25-pounders as their focal point, and acted as tail-end charlie for the convoy. Following three Quads, towing limbers and 25-pounders (just like the old Dinky Toy set!) round the country lanes was an experience not to be missed! |

Thats sounds great Renaud following the Quads, great.
We were in Arromanche for the film show and the fireworks and the bikes were parked on the sea wall overlooking the sea and Mulberry harbour (as in the photo).
I saw the sand colour Kubel with the Star on the door travelling through one of the villages. Whilst i can sort of understand why he felt more comfortable driving it around as a captured vehicle rather than that of the SS as designated by the Adolf Hitler Leibstandater markings on the boot lid, its also a shame that he felt the need to 'graffiti' the Kubel to satify other peoples feelings. Afterall the problem would have the been the crew members and not the vehicle, as it was them that did the harm and not the Kubel.
Still a nice car though.
Are you going to the World Meeting Renaud??? _________________ If it works ok, "LEAVE IT THE FUCK ALONE". |

Boys
Captain Krimson, this is the export model 'Kubel'
If the Germans had invaded England during the war, they would have been made like this for our roads _________________ If it works ok, "LEAVE IT THE FUCK ALONE". |

Of couse not! If the Germans had invaded and concoured the Brittish Isles it would have become part of Germany and you all would now be driving on the right side of the road, which is of couse the right side.
For different reasons it is a good thing that did not happen. _________________ look for "sundive live" on youtube and be startled by my weird musical mind |
