bren,
my memory may be failing me, but on original 4 light bodyshells, wasn't there a small 'top hat' section welded across the inside of the 6th light area?
Adding something similar would limit any tendency for that infill panel to flex...

I used a few speakers, to hold the metal out flush with the body, whilst I put in a few tacks with the welder.
I'm not going to weld all the way around like you have, I've put a few tacks in to hold it in place, that's where I'm at now, but I intend to fill in on the inside with sikoflex, then a thin smear of filler on the outside (thinking of hunting down some plastic padding elastic).
I hope it doesn't bloody rain, cos it's my daily driver, and it'll piss in |

Welding around is the only way josh, no doubt about that.
But before you are going to place the primer, filler, etc..
Make sure that you've made the shape/curve as good as possible with metal working.
Filler is only for finishing. Not "filling"
And JoZef is wright about the curving, it is a difficult job.
Good luck with it! |

Yea the shap is not too bad just need to get rid of some of the ripples from he heat but it looks good so hopefully won't need much filler only round the Edge _________________ its nice..... high five....

when I was closing the 3rd window we were doing it like tightening the head on a engine head - started on 4 spots - in corners and in the middle of the longest arc (hope you understand what I mean) and just spot welded it bit by bit around until the welds were completed. all the time we were cooling the metal with wet cloth to prevent deforming and heat warping as much as possible. on the inside I've left the structure for the 3rd window to act as a reinforcement and also I've found use for it it is now a pocket for bits and pieces
maybe you can see it here

the inertia dampers on the suspension arm! never seen them on a UK car, only normal hydraulic dampers.
nothing wrong with them, I have them, I was curious how they would perform, but they're pretty damn good!!

O right yea them well my dad owned one of the biggest 2cv companies in the 90s so as you would expect we have got a lot of spare parts I found these in the shed think they are off a ami 6 as they were on a left hand drive steering rack and the steering is at more of an angle anyway I thought they looked cool and not meant people have them so I thought I might as well shame I could not find any for the rear _________________ its nice..... high five....

These are the "batteurs".
The "frotteurs" are the shocks absorbers when they are not hydraulics.
The "batteurs" didn't disapeared immediatly after the hydraulics shocks arrived but later... _________________ www.super2cv.com |

bren,
the 'frotteurs et batteurs' damping system didn't disappear completely from Citroen's A series range until 1975, so there are still quite a few around...
... except on cars in the UK which have been 'restored' by those companies who seem to be incapable of dealing with this type of suspension damping, or even drum brakes for that matter.

AMIs (all 3 of them) have been known to be fitted with the batteur part of the system (Wheel side) despite having modern hydraulic shocks _________________ "That bumper fits there like sunglasses on pig" O.E.
