There are several standard rotation speeds, for example Honda bikes have 1:4 ratio. I assume the Smiths speedo is for UK bike, most likely that they have standard rotation speed, but for sure not the same as 2cv gearbox.
Also problem with cars is that speedo's are always connected to gearbox and because there are different wheel sizes, the gears in the gearbox can differ. For US cars (for example FORD) you can buy them easy and the color of the plastic gears are paired with the end diff.
read this: http://www.westnet.com/~mfrank/Speedometer/Smiths.html

PS it appears that ratio is printed on the speedo in numbers
That's why I bought an electronic one, to keep it simple. _________________ 2CV, with Visa turbo charged |

Hy,
Thanks for that link
The seller didn't know anithing about that speedo. (thats what the ad say in dutch)
I wil not buy it, but i like the size!
Most of the modern speedo's are mutch larger!
I saw an idea to use a bike headlicht, and maybe it wil fit whit an special speedo.
But I like a meter till 160km (100mile ) |

The digital one I have is about 7 to 8 cm, not so big either (plus revcounter, fuel gauge etc) _________________ 2CV, with Visa turbo charged |
