|
|
Hi all,
I found a body shell for 75€ year 1963. No rust at all and no dent. The paint is more than faded but it is not a problem as the car will be repainted later.
As some of you knows it I'm restauring my 1987 2CV6 but the body shell is dead... the wheel base is good... almost (almost finished to retaurate it).
My question is: is it possible to fit a 1963 body shell on a 1987 wheel base. What about the fixing holes on the floor and the body shell? are they at the same place? As anyone of you done the same thing before?
Thanks for your comments and your help guys...

Hi slic,
I haven't done this before, but as far as I'm aware a '63 body should fit straight away onto a '87 chassis, that is no problem. Only thing you have to do is weld a late type of pedal mounting on the '63 bodyshell to allow the late type padels and brake master cylinder. You can take that of your '87 bodyshell and it shouldn't be a big deal to do this mod.
Good luck!, Bart _________________ I like to play |

hi
don't forget that in 63 the chassis still has supports for the floors,
that the more modern 2cvs don't have
So if you don't want flexible floors you must adapt your modern chassis. it's easy, just a few pieces of square tube welded to the chassis...

Sure ! The Gaetan's AZL 1956 is on a 2cv6 chassis for example. Just the modifications Bartje told about need to be done. _________________ www.super2cv.com |

here you can see what Gaëtan did for the pedals.
accelerator is kept on the floor in this case. _________________ "That bumper fits there like sunglasses on pig" O.E.

I'm running 2cv 6 engine on my 1960 Azu and I use old pedals.
Its not any miracle to make them work whit new technic. The its up to
what feeling you want on your cabin.

Hi all...
Thanks for your answers... So i'm gonna get it modify the wheelbase to fix the body shell
Kustombart - I won't channel it... I'm not well equiped, I'm not a good welder and I don't want to do it on mine even if I like the idea of that. I won't be able to drive on the french roads if the gap between the car and the road is 10cm.
JoZeF - thanks for the pictures it gave me a good idea of what I need to do to adapt the wheelbase.
Olli - you say that on your 1960 Azu you fit a 2CV6 engin, but still using the old pedals. So it means means that you're using the old master cylinder for the breaks? by any chance could please send me few pictures of that. thanks in advance

Yes, I'm using old master cylinder. On front I have huge (dyane) drums and
in rear standard brakes. I can try to make pics tomorrow, cause I dig it
out from snow today
Ah, btw. Are you using Wheelbase word for a Chassis?
This is wheelbase:
the wheelbase is the distance between the centers of the front and rear wheels.

Hi Olli, I'm indeed using wheelbase instead of chassis. Thanks for the correction man.
And thanks in advance for your pictures

Really hard to make pictures what would actually help you. Conversion is
not difficult if you have all the parts. You will find you problems while doing it.
Here some anyways, this conversion is made already 1984 and have
been driven few hundred thousand kilometers since then.
This thing changes direction of gas pedal:
Exhaust is modified on right side:
Brake&Clutch systems:
Pedals in cabin:
