@ Backfire
I will use a new designed crankcase using the outlines of the original. The crankcase will be either sandcasted or machined from a billet. Have to talk to an engineer for the right decision I prefer machined
@ Olli
I'll put them up asap. Any idea to upload a larger amount of pictures? |

Wow, sounds good, hope that oil leads will work out fine for all that heat and power. _________________ 2CV, with Visa turbo charged |

@ Backfire,
The oilpump of a Ducati Monster is connected to the crankshaft and will be used in the same way.
In theory I can use splash lubrication for the driveshafts and the oilpump for the cilinderheads. The pump pumps oil to the oilcooler and the returning (cooled) oil is pumped along the crankbearings towards the cilinderheads. From there it drops down internally towards the crankcase.
Becouse the new designed crankcase is split in 2 halves it will be not that difficult to do the same as Ducati did. You just need a good CNC machine.
For the heat: Citroen has a marvellous solution to cool aircooled twins
Anyway thanks! Your question got me thinking and made me decide to CNC the crankcase from billet! |

@ Backfire,
How did you build your engine?
I'm interested in: Compression ratio, turbo pressure, turbo dimensions (amount of air), carburation, ignition etc. |

Engine is not finished yet, but compression is lowered to 1:7,2 approx. I made a shim to fit between crankcase and cylinder. Turbo is from a 3 cylinder 1000cc daihatsu, so that should work. I will start with simple system based on suck through (commonly used on 1970īs bike, like honda cb750 etc). I will start using orginial carb, but I already have a SU carb, for which you can buy 100īs of differtent needles for setting, plus SU as you know is much smoother then standard carb. _________________ 2CV, with Visa turbo charged |

@ Backfire,
So in theory you could run 10 to 11 Psi safely with 98 octane fuel. With intercooler you'll have +/- 50Hp.
The SU will also work fine in a pressurized set-up. It is also easyier doing 'plumbing'
If you need info on the carb and other posibillities then try this book for a change:
ISBN 0-85059-744-7. It's written by Allan Allard (of the Allard cars) and is called Turbocharging & Supercharging. It's old but good.
The software you'll find on www.turbo-bike.com (or .net) and www.virtualengine2000.com is also helpfull. And you can download them for free!
Furthermore try SketchUp if you need a 3D setup of the engine and enginebay. It's good to engineer and visualize everything before you start. You can download it free at www.sketchup.google.com. |

great links, you dont happen to have a .dat file for a visa engine :)
PS I am going for 45HP (valculated at 7psi), I have 8 percent reduction on my gearbox and a little bit taller tyres, all in all overall 10 percent reduction compared to 2cv6.
That should give me a top speed of 140 but nicer is a smoother cruising speed at 110. _________________ 2CV, with Visa turbo charged |

I tested mine has 1,2B (17,4Psi), not very long, gearbox was noise! _________________ Home Made Buggy with V06/644 injection turbocharged |

@ Backfire,
I'm sorry, I can't help you
@ Kironk,
That's a lot of Psi! What have you done to avoid detonation?
And yes, this will destroy your gearbox.... Have you seen the configuration page on www.cats-citroen.net? It's good for choosing the best type of gearbox. |

With your project, you do not know solution to avoid explosion???
It's strange
lower compression, intercooler, rich injection....
Everybody know cat's website
Now, i ride with lna gearbox. _________________ Home Made Buggy with V06/644 injection turbocharged |

I run on 95 octane with 9-1 inn compression and 0,7bar f boost (ca. 10psi)
No problem with an intercooler mounted
Going too have 1,0bar later _________________ Mvh. Lars E

@ Kironk,
Basicly I use a normal and complete Ducati engine with only a modified (new built) crankcase and crank. Compression should also be lowered a bit to avoid detonation when running a supercharger.
All the normal stuff from the Ducati will be reused..... |

Okay, here's an update.
Today I've bought the enige. It's a jammed Ducati Monster600 from 1994 and this one will be used for measurement.
For the techies:
Bore: 80mm
Stroke: 58mm
Cubics: 583cc
Valves: Desmodromic, 2 valves per cylinder
Compression: 10.6:1
Brake HP (@ the wheel): 51Hp
RPM: 8700
Carbs: Twin 38mm Mikuni (will be replaced by injection)
I already have the Aisin AMR300 supercharger which is in mint condition...
So I think it's gonna be a long winter for me
Will post some pictures soon....... |
