today on my way home from work i suddenly couldn't give full gas anymore. so half gas to the traficlight, stopped and my motor stopped too... couldn''t start and shit...no electra... turns out we put a visa dynamo in it. that one already has a "powercontroller" or "electracontroller" ( don't know the word..), together with my loose controller the battery didn't fill...
so here is my question:
can i disconnect one of the powercontrollers and make one work on the dynamo? if i can... how?
thnx |

You need also small signal lamp, maybe it doesn't start to charge without it.
Does this help..? _________________ Make it today, tomorrow it's probably illegal... |

but the visa regulator is already having a +..otherwise the 2 regulators wouldn't clinch, right?
so i have to disconnect the old one... and following the guys on 2cv.nl i have to put a signallight between the + and the d+.... ?...or somethin' .
damn...i dunno... thnx for the picture...but i donn't get it ... |

Hello groovy,
AFAIK you have to disconect the OEM 2CV voltage regulator and connect the pins which are oppsite (Exc and Batt).
People have reported problems (to turn off the engine). A piece of wire has not enough rsistance --> insert a 1...2W bulb.

Horst and Groovy,
that's the one...
If you fit the bulb on your dash panel, it acts as a warning light to tell you if the alternator is not charging the battery, just as in the original Visa arrangement.
Although a proper voltmeter is better, since it also warns of over-charging, which can be more of a nuisance than lack of charging.
Ken.

I remember fitting a Visa alternator when I went to Raid Laponie 2004 and couldn't get the engine to stop when I turned the ignition off!! I cured it with a relay in the ignition circuit to cut the power but I did see that one of the other cars had a resistor over the standard voltage regulator pins and that worked.
