|
|
I recently bougth some gearboxes for scrap money, I need a box for my tuned visa engine,
I think a 1015 box or a short 1220 is the best, but how can I recognize them ?
2 boxes I bought are the same but the third one is diffenrent, same box but different bellhousing and now swtich for reverse gear.
is this a Ami Super box or what ?
Hope to get some information on this.
the last one is a bit different |

that would be perfect.
but how can I see what type it really is ?
I heard I can find out by counting the teeth from crown and pignon ?
Anybody knows ? |

Yeah if you take off the gearbox bell housing you will be able to count the number of teeth.
Otherwise you can count the number of "engine" revs/wheel revs and that can give you info but I'm no good at maths so I don't know how that works _________________ "That bumper fits there like sunglasses on pig" O.E.

With a support for a hydraulic suspension unit ?
That's why I think it's a GS 1015 _________________ "That bumper fits there like sunglasses on pig" O.E.

the supprot lokks different then the one on the other boxes, doesnt look like a support for hydraulics, thats why i was also thinking its a ami super box.
but ami super boxes are good for a tuned visa engine ?
thtats the same as an early gs 1220 box isn't it ? |

I guess it depends on the gearing...
If you're talking about capacity of standing the engine output, I would think it should be plenty strong enough _________________ "That bumper fits there like sunglasses on pig" O.E.

It's for sale, by the way, if anyone needs one... _________________ "That bumper fits there like sunglasses on pig" O.E.

but when I remove the bellhousing and count the teeth its possible to find out witch box it is, not worrying for the strenght but more 'bout the gearings. |

Put a mark on the input shaft, gear in 4th, rotate drive shaft and count the numer of rotations of the input shaft. Compare it with the 2cv and you know the difference. _________________ 2CV, with Visa turbo charged |

today I removed the bellhousing from the different box , found out its a 4,125 end reduction, so I now think it's an ami super box for sure.
the other two are gs/gsa boxes with 4,125 and 4,375 end reductions, could be 1015, 1220 or 1130 boxes, all with different gearings, so I guess I have to take it apart to know what it is for sure.
best box for my project will be a super or gs1015 box I think |
