|
|
Does anybody know how big the diameter of a flywhel is for 2cv/dyane engine, from the outside of the starter teeth one side to the other?
I know that they have different number of teeth to LNA but is the diameter the same?
Has anybody tried to use LNA toothed belt and starter with 2cv gearbox, or 2cv toothed belt and starter with LNA gearbox? or maybe the starter is a little higher or lower.
Cats says that if you try to fit a LNA engine to a 2cv gearbox the teeth hit the bellhousing, but I don't know if it is because they are bigger, or they are further from the engine.
I don't have a 2cv flywheel that I can measure at the moment so If someone could measure one for me I would be able to have a good guess if it will work. cheers,

278 mm . but i guess it's the same as lna only the flywheel is a little bit thicker on the lna. same problem with the visa engine. _________________

I have Visa belhousing and Visa flywheel, starter is old 6volts one whit
custom made GS thooted rotor. 2cv fly wheel does not fit whit GS or Visa starters.

Yes, diameter is same!
602cc and 652cc flywheels are not interchangeable. The 602cc flywheel has 107 teeth on the starter belt, the 652cc flywheel has 131.
I use 652cc VISA motor in combination with dyane gearbox - customed for burton senzor holder.
Flywheel is also VISA, but I replaced visas with 2cv teeth ring (107) and use 2cv starter.

The bolt pattern of the 2cv flywheel isn't the same as the Visa/LNA/GS anyway, so there's no hope of swapping them round...

Thank-you everyone that was all the infomation that I needed.
I measured the LNA flywheel and it is about 279mm so I guess it is the same. I guess that you can use 2cv starter and toothed belt or LNA starter and toothed belt so long as you do not mix them. I am using a LNA bellhousing so maybe I should use LNA parts but I would have to change the belt because I am using a 2cv flywheel (I have to be different to everybody else ) because my engine has 5 flywheel bolts.
I just noticed that the starter drive ratios are different;
2cv 107/9=11.89
LNA 131/10=13.10
(you can change the . for , if you are french but you will be wrong ).
This means the LNA parts will turn the motor with more torque, but the 2cv parts would turn it faster, if the starters were the same power.
I was thinking of changing to LNA flywheel if the clutch was bigger (it's not) then I would have to fill the six bolt holes and drill five new ones.
ps. Olli I think you are right that GS/VISA/LNA/AXEL have 6 bolt mounting but LN has 602cc 2CV/DYANE motor so maybe 5 bolts? I have never seen one, I'm just guessing. |

Hello Joolz,
if you want to use a 2CV type gear box (bell housing) it's recomended to remove the tooth belt and machine ~5mm more in direction of the engine. Then you're able to move the starter belt 'deeper' on the fly wheel. --> touching the bell housing is avoided.
The starter is able to move its driving tooth wheel this additional distance too so torque can be transmitted.
Most people swap to 2CV belt/starter just for later replacemnt reasons. LNA/Visa starters is rare, 2CV is easy available.
If you want/need more starter power, overhowl it!
Or take an old 6V type. They turn very fast with 12V connected and it's proven that they withstand the energy. Also the energy for magnet switch is 'saved', becuase it's pushed by hand!

Hi Horst,
My flywheels are at the machine shop at the moment, I will pick them up on wednesday. He is putting the LNA tooth belt on the 2CV flywheel for me, yes really that way. |
