Righto guy's. I'm going to try and explain how I got onto this forum, my first idea's and where I'm going now
I first got attracted to custom 2 CV's when a friend posted this picture on another forum
This car is so different I thought I must have a go at something similar myself, whilst searching the internet I stumbled onto Kustombarts web site and he directed me here.
This is where my problems started all of a sudden I was surrounded by loads of good ideas and Tony's scar truck in particular caught my eye. So the search was on for a doner vehicle, Andy Saunders supplied me with a galvanized rolling chassis at a very good price and I then picked up a 2 CV off eBay for £70.00 as it needed a new chassis..Result
Once I got it home and had a good look around it I have found that she is very solid. With all the low riding snails on the forum i.e. Etiennes, Shedspeeds and Stefan's etc I am finding myself drawn towards the "Hoodride" style.
So for my first try at Customising a 2 CV I am going to just lower it and give it a repaint. But I do find this front end is far more me than the more modern ones
it just shouts out Hotrod to me, can't explain it and probably once I get my hands on one may well change my mind. Sometimes things just seem right
I do have other idea's but I will keep those for future projects, one step at a time _________________ In-the-Shed Speed Shop. |

I understand well many idea come and it's difficult to make a choice. But there is so many custom 2cv just built as it goes (and look ugly), I swear it's really important to know where you go!
The idea of first lower it, and make it look hoodride is good. No need of thousand of modification. And then you'll take time to appreciate your 2cv, discover the mystery mechanic of it and get THE idea!
But, if you really want a ripple bonnet on your 2CV, don't forget to close front fenders, third windows and change rear panels, bumpers.
Old bonnet with "new" 2cv really doesn't work I think! _________________ www.super2cv.com |

Right, that was I mean!
So for the hoodride one, what kind of painting do you want? _________________ www.super2cv.com |

Keep the modern bonnet and use this grill :
AZ 1961-65
Remove the front indicators and clean the rear panel to fit old style lights ("anything" cool, not necessarily 2cv, but old bike taillights, old ford/austin etc, something with a cool vibe to it)
try to find maybe a pair of 50s 2cv bumpers, otherwise keep the original but slice a piece out of them to make them thinner, and don't fit overriders on the front.
And you'll have something on the way to being cool.
That french ripple bonnet is a piece o' shit, the hing is rusted away and it's totally bent. so you can drop that idea for the time being _________________ "That bumper fits there like sunglasses on pig" O.E.

ECAS sell these dirt cheap brand new in UK. maybe have to scuff em about a bit to make them suit a hoodride car but at least you can get them with no rust on them or needing any repairs. _________________

Great idea's JoZef, now anybody got one of those grills for sale? I have got a new rear panel from Shedspeed which I am going to modify to take some different lights and just lower the old girl
Russ I'll give ECAS a try for the bumpers.
Cheers for the ideas guy's _________________ In-the-Shed Speed Shop. |

ECAS have the grilles as well if you want a new one, you'll have to leave it outside for a while though! |

Do you have any more pics of your car, even if it is still stock? _________________ www.international2cvfriends.com |

I'll get a couple tomorrow Neil.
Yep I have been sucked in, to me the whole scene is pretty new, almost a blank canvas to work with unlike the conventional rod scene. I am hoping that my traditional Hotrod/bike tastes will bring a little something different to the 2 cv scene. Then again maybe it won't _________________ In-the-Shed Speed Shop. |
