Hello,
yesterday i shortend my lampholder. Due to the matter of fact, i have an old rusty 2CV, i try to get the new lampholder rusty as well.
I changed my lampholder, because I changened my old 425 ccm engine and chassis in one of the 2CV6.
Then I cut of the lampholders arms, because the old one´s are shorter and the headlights are near to the hood and not in the middle of the front fenders.
to get the new holder rusty, i put off the paint and painted it again without a primer. After that i "polished" it with fine sandpaper and put saltwater on it. After one day it begins to get an old wethered look :-)

Some weeks ago, I found this one http://www.rostlack.de/1.html
I tried this on a repro- coolingbox made in Hong Kong.
I painted the top in white colour and mad a Pepsi- brand.
After drying I painted it with "rustcolour". The edges where done with the brush and the finishing with an airbrush. I put on wet newspapers with saltwater on it.
At least, I covered with an colourless paint.

Nice work.
Is the material of the box metal or plastic? |

this is a metallbox. For using the rustpaint you should have to paint it with an primer to prevent going the rust to the metall.
But you can even colour plastic things with the rust colour. _________________ That´s not broken ... thats normal

Both the fender and the Pepsi box are awesome!
But I have a question - You wrote that you used newspapers with saltwater on it - did you wrap the box with this paper to get real rust on the bare metal parts like the handles and corner "shields"? For how long did you keep the paper on (if that was how it was done), approximately?

Hi,
I wrapt the box completly into the wet newspapers. If the newspaper was dry, I made it wet again with new saltwater. But now I think, the wet newspaper aren´t really nessesary. At the last times, I used the rustpaint, I took only some saltwater and made it wet several times.
The corners and the handlebar are made with rustpaint as well. These are only some spots of rustpaint made with a brush.
I´m not able to say how long it takes to get rusty. The Box took a week, the letters "la Bell" one night. I think it depends on the same conditions as real rust, like air circulation ... _________________ That´s not broken ... thats normal
