Hi All,
Last week I bought a HY Van and i'm thinking about modifing it. I would like to have more power, a better breaking system and at least a 4 speed gearbox.
I need some inspiration....
An option: replacing the engine by a Peugeot 505 2.5 turbo diesel engine (95hp) with a 4/5 speed Peugeot J7/J9 gearbox. Changing the front suspension so you can use the braking system of a J9.
Do you guys know any successful engine swap stories? I'd love to hear them!
Cheers!

Ive often thought that a VW Passat turbo diesel engine and 5speed box would be good for the H van as the engine sits infront of the gearbox just as it does in the H van. Standard VW would give you good fuel economy and 130mph top speed _________________ If it works ok, "LEAVE IT THE FUCK ALONE". |

hey jacobus
I don't think enyone in the netherlands has succesfully swapt his H van engine
but keep us posted when you find the guy who did
but why do you want to change it?
isnt the 3 speed the ultimite custumizing?!
(almost)no other vihicle has 17x400 tires
and allrond drumbrakes are only on hotrods these days
by the way my H van does 120km in thirth
but i'm thinking of an auto tranny |

Nice v8 powered H van!
Because of the big tyres and the weight of the H van, it's quite hard to find suitable gearboxes with the right gear ratio. I'm currently playing with a car speed calculator (my own excel-sheet) to find out which gearboxes are fitting well. |

there is a diskbrake system on the market for H vans
i don't think the gear ratio is going to be the biggest problem
but how to find a gearbox that fits the engine and the propshafts
is going to be a bigger challenge
but with time and money everything is posible |
