Hi
I've just checked the static timing and the points are opening 2-1/2 teeth before the 8 dg mark, I double checked this with a strobe and I have had to advance the strobe knob to 16dgs to get the 8 dg mark to strobe in line with my mark on the starter motor housing. I'm reluctant to adjust the points box as the car 'seems' to run well. Have other members found their 2CV can run with that amount of advance?
Cheers

Well, I've reduced the amount of advance from 16 to 8dgs and there seems very little change. I've sent up the timing with a light on the points and a strobe and both agree 8 dgs btdc. The car still starts easily and has a fairly smooth tickover ... well 2cv smooth. When the weather clears up a bit I'll try it on the road. There is some occasional small sparks at the points when the car is running, I assume that the condensor is okay.

I do static timing first by blocking the flywheel throw the block and get the points to position were the test light goes on and after i do dinamic timing while engine is running hot and no problems after this double check |
