My sidepipe is 60mm. Up to and including the first damper, everything is still original. Besides the sound it doesn't matter to the performance.
Yesterday I had to remake the pipe from first fender to the stainless steel sidepipe because the first one I made from a used piece of pipe 4 years ago had rusted through. You can see the construction clearly on this picture.
I had to reshape it because otherwise the wheel would hit it while steering to the left (my car is a lot lower than normal).
The pipe is welded to a steel flange, which is bolted to a stainless steel flange of the same size with a gasket in between them. If regular steel was to come in contact with stainless, it would corrode much faster.
The sidepipe hangs from renault R4 exhaust rubbers. They are straight, with a metal part with thread inside. Really useful for custom exhaust work.
I hope this will help you in your project. _________________ Don't ask me what I think of you 'cause I might not give the answer that you want me to.

My buddy made this shop of my Dyane
Thats about the 'final version' of how I want it
Now I have a question about the height of the car,
If I leave it at stock height (shame ), and there are 2/3 people in the car, will it already be as low as in the Shop ??? _________________ A-Types, Guitars And Heavy Metal ... Thats The Life

ok, as far as i can see, my 2cv is kinda low yet, thx for your advice with the 15 mm sticking to the tie rod eyes-part...
so i will try the lowest "no cost" condition in about 16 hours from now on...
gonna try the hardened steering and check if it works for me then...
as far as i see the dyane above, it seems to be higher than normal (my opinion, correct me if i am wrong)...
problem on highered cars is that they react really bad on fast curves..., but if you like to drive with a drifting back, you maybe should try....
the standard setup on 2cv is about 85 mm measured from bold knuckle on tie rod to tie rod eyes-part`s edge on front, and about 95 mm on backside...
it was like that on my original 2cv, last week i added additional 20 mm to each rodside, but i was worried about the stability...but if the 15 mm are prooved yet, i will try it...
another question is off topic a bit...i want to try other rims, but close to original, maybe custom original with drop base... anyone experienced on this? |
