Ladies and Gentlemen, i have started a new project after too many months away from my trusty welder and angle grinder.
I am up and running in my new workshop and its allowed me to get started on a new 'toy'.
I have posted some photo's on my facebook page but will add them to photobucket and post them on here after returning from the French National.
Hope some of you like what im building (i'm sure some of you wont, tho )

Sorry for the delay but had problems with my photobucket account.
Anyway this was the 'Doner' car, a 1990 2cv.

And then after the body was removed just leaving behind the bulkhead, i started to add steel box section to make the frame.
You can see from this photo what i hope to replicate from the 1/10 scale model, A WW11 German Army VW Kubelwagen
[img]
In this one ive started to build the sides which will be the new sill panels when they are covered in sheet steel plate.
A view from the front showing the front wing/bonnet area and where the spare wheel will fit.
Got a load of bits from France and had a few bits specially made for this project. I will add the photos as soon as i can.
Like i said before, some of you may hate this , but i hope a few of you will be interested [/img]
If all go's according to plan, it should look something like one of these two example's

Hiya
I'm puzzled (again )
Why not build something like that starting from a VW ?
In a "similar" style, I've always thought a Citroen Type G replica would be so awesome on a modern slammed 2cv chassis
good job so far though _________________ "That bumper fits there like sunglasses on pig" O.E.

Hey Jozef Yeah your right but im not into VW's so it HAD to be a Citroen based vehicle and i like the challenge of making something thats hopefully not been done before
Indeed, i had already started on a 'G' van project before i built my Rat Rod 'SCAR'. I shortened a 2cv chassis and designed a forward control steering system because the driver would be sitting directly over the engine, but thats as far as it got. When i left my wife i had to clear a lot of parts away from our house and that was one of the things that went to the scrap yard
Who knows, might try it again when ive done this one . _________________ If it works ok, "LEAVE IT THE FUCK ALONE". |

Got the rear mudguards fitted and extended and fitted one of the front ones. Ive shortened the engine breather so that it misses the bonnet when its shut. Also fitted one of my modified VW beetle hubcaps onto the 2cv wheel rim. Very pleased with how they look. Took photos on my mobile phone but cant download them so will have to wait a couple of days till i get my camera out . _________________ If it works ok, "LEAVE IT THE FUCK ALONE". |

Cheers Guys. The only problem ive had so far was with clearance on the engine oil filler/breather but ive shortenend that and will fit one of ECAS's in-line reed valves.
Because the bonnet has such a steep angle the carb and air intake will stick through the bonnet, but ive discovered that if i weld a 'bulge' in the bonnet for the carb and K&N filter to fit under, i will be able to hide the 'bulge' under the spare wheel problem solved
More work and photos next Sunday _________________ If it works ok, "LEAVE IT THE FUCK ALONE". |
