Hi
yeah, the actual PCD is 161,66 mm
I was talking about the distance between lugholes... which is 140, not 130 mm

Then the bolt pattern should be marked 3x140? (or 3x146 if measured like 5 bolts pattern??)
Here is how counting goes whit 4-5-6-8 lugs, but how it goes in 3 lugs?

I've never seen that way of measuring a five stud(lug) wheel before. I think all wheels fitments should be measured by PCD, this guy gives a good explaination of what it is, the imaginary circle made by all the studs.
http://www.tyresave.co.uk/choose.html
http://www.carbibles.com/tyre_bible_pg2.html
And here is a list of wheel fitments all shown as PCD, including the 5 stud ones (interesting, but none fit 2cv)
http://www.carlsalter.com/wheel_fitments.html
I measured my spare hub again, (with a cheap vernier caliper) and the gap between 2 studs was 126.25mm, and the studs are 12mm diameter.
A bit of work with a calculator says the PCD is 159.6mm, close enough that I think it is really 160mm.
When engineers design stuff they allways specify PCD, not the distance between studs/bolts, and even Citroen choose easy numbers to work with when they can, when PCDs are wierd sizes like 5x139.7 it's because it was designed in inches 139.7mm = 5.5in.
The lesson is, if you are going to get adaptors or something made, give the hub to the guy doing the machining so that he can measure it himself. |

On 3 lugs you go from center of one lug, across to the edge of the circle that goes through the center of the 3 lugs, which gives you 3x160
but everyone talks about 3x140 (distance between 2 lugs) _________________ "That bumper fits there like sunglasses on pig" O.E.

As you can see, for the 4-, 6- and 8-lug pattern, the actual diameter (PCD) is measured.
I have always understood that way of measuring the 5-lug pattern as a way to approximate the PCD with the simple measuring tools you have in your garage, i.e. a ruler. In other words: It is not the correct way to measure, but a simple way to get very close to the correct measure.
