Hi all

Brief history ?

Dyane 1970 ish - sold to buy central heating [ thats marriage for you !]

Dyane 1985 ish ran for 3-4 years

Dyane Sidewinder built in time for Worlds 1986 - from MOT fail Ami Super + Dyane body from a scrapyard and a spares Dyane - all gas welded by me and sold a couple of years later.

Last I heard of it the hot air ducting fell on the exhaust and caused a small fire , it free wheeledoff the bridge over the Manchester Ship Canal avoiding the fine for stopping on there.

Now ? well retired and looking for a project ?

When I owned my first Dyane around the corner was a Ami 8 [ new 1971 ] it failed it's MOT in 1978 and has remained in the owners garage ever since.

I have been given it to try and get it back on the road.

It failed as the front floors had rotted through.

No idea what other rust there is or whether I can get the engine to run.

It would seem a good idea to channel it to the depth of the sills and get an MOT then I can look at lowering it.

Is there any help anywhere online as to how to tackle getting the engine started without doing it any damage ? and what else may need looking at ?

No gas gear now , however I have been learning TIG and been building bicycles choppers , recumbent trikes , tall bikes etc etc

Sorry for the rambling post

regards Paul

I am not aware of any guide, use common sense.
Manifolds can rust inside and that may come down on the valves, block the heads or end up in the comb. chambers. So I would at least take manifolds after so long and do a proper blow through & afterwards maybe soak with oil, to lube liners etc. Than try manually turn the engine, if that works, try start it..

TIG makes you over qualified for this forum Wink

Welcome!!! and post pics + wake up the forum, it is often quite here..

Bart

Thanks good to know about manifold.

Got to wait about 4-6 weeks before her indoors will allow me to pick it up very frustrating.

While I delivered some of my body panels in the 1980's from my Ami Super , I have not seen the car since then.
