Hi gents,
Here is my topic about my car, a 2CV6 Spécial Pick Up, built in 1986.
How is started:
The story begins @ 21-11-2002, I bought te car, a white 2CV, for the ammount of €700,--. The MOT/APK/TC was just 4 weeks old.
The chassis and bodywork was allright then, only the fenders (front) and the roof were in an bad condition, rusty
Unfortunatly I don't have many pictures from back then, we didn't have a digital camera at that time. Just image a white, bit rusty 2CV
I drove the car for 2 years, without any problems. In those years i added the adventure-bumpers, new roof & secondhand fenders (in good condition).
Only I painted the car black + yellow and added some wide tyres:
195mm @ the front
205mm @ the back...
Unfortunatly the car didn't get a new MOT/APK/TC in 2004. The chassis + floor were in a too bad condition.
In august 2005 we dicided to renovate the car, and because we (dad & me) always wanted to build a pick up, why not do it with my car, at that moment.
I bought a new chassis, and painted it in some nice coulours...
Next, the body... Saw a bit off, te get ridd of all that extra weight and space...
Thenn close the rear end:
Te have a better seat, I mounted BX GTi seats and on the floor some grass carpet:
When it's finished, we can drive:
@ Vaals, Zuid Limburg, Holland
@ Ravenstein, Holland
The last picture is how my car looks at this moment. All black (slammed/mat), with an yellow stripe on the bonnet
More pictures will follow soon, need some more webspace
As a last picture, my "custom" doorpanels:

Time for some woodworking!
Because this car is going to Sweden in july I needed something on top of my cagro area behind.
Therefor my dad and me started yesterday with some sawing, measuring and thinking...
First the shape off the lid, is must be round. So after some drawing & sawing this was the result:
Then we needed to add some strengt to the bonnet, and the woodens bars can be used to attatch the toplayer to:
(Don't pay attention to the mess inside )
Adding the toplayer, some few mm thick multiplex. It's a bit bendable, so we make the wood wet so it doens't crack:
Screwing the multiplex to the frame:
And when it's ready, we can test it on the car:
It needs some shaving at the frame on the right side (passenger-side). The frame isn't completly straigt at that side, but we can fix that.
The bonnet wil be fixed to the car with 2 large hinges at the left side, en on the right some locks, so my lugage is safe!
More photo's next week. _________________ @ 1986 2CV6 Spécial Pick Up |

Indeed!
Bad rear brakes and the chassis needs some attention/replacement...
For the outsiders, the Charly (grey charleston), is my dad's 2cv. I drove it daily from november 2004 until the end of 2006.... _________________ @ 1986 2CV6 Spécial Pick Up |

Forgotten to add my "to-do-list"
* Stab-bar at the front axle (just needs te get a second layer of paint ant than I can mount it)
* Small air-scoop at the bonnet
* New rear tyres (I hope before Sweden)
* A bit bigger steering wheel, now I have a 10" leather Mountney, it's a bit too small
* Other dash, something with polyesther
* Rear fenders attached to the swingarm
* Extra lights in the bumper, under the grill
* In a few years, when I have space & money (enough) an Ami Super-chassis _________________ @ 1986 2CV6 Spécial Pick Up |

Update:
Went on vacation (Worldmeeting, 5800km), without problems.
During the vacation the drive-shafts began to make some noise in slow corners... Just ignored it, cause on vacation i didn't have the tools to fix it...
But now i don't hear them anymore.. On my daily trip to work i need to take many corners, and the noise is gone. But my car get's new drive shafts at the next maintance-day (within 3000km)
For the rest everything goes well with the car.
But....
In september the car gets new front shock-absorbers... The lips in front are to soft... When ik take a speed-bump with a bit much speed, the front bumper kisses the road... Not what i like
So now, i orderd some adjustable Avo's ( http://www.avouk.com ) to fit in front. When I'm goint to mount them, I immediatly mount the stab-bar in front which ui already have... Just needs a few extra layers of paint.
And at last, some pictures:
Denmark
Sweden @ Ikea's
Zweden :) :
During the worldmeeting, somewhere at a parkingplace:
Spotted in Sweden:

Problems... with the gearbox...
The last few months my gearbox produced some noises from a bearing.. Today, time again for some service I wanted just to change the gearbox oil and I hope that was the reason for the noise... But unfortunatly, when I loosend the oilplug, a lot of stuff was sticking on the magnet
After cleaning the oilplug:
The plug itself after some cleaning
So now.... looking for a new gearbox...I will keep driving it.. the noise was there for a few months, so I think ik will hold a few more weeks extra _________________ @ 1986 2CV6 Spécial Pick Up |

I think these parts are from differential bearing, not the gearbox itself. not that it makes any big difference if you intend to change the whole gearbox, but this can be repaired. I was fortunate to find bearings at local citroen dealership, plus thin synchrone-securing rings, and replaced it all with a help of experienced citroen mechanic. it's like new now, I never had such smooth gearbox before. |
