Does somebody know where it could be possible to find new chassis for AK..? Also Ami chassis might be useful, I think only thing what matters is chassis should be new and for big suspension pots...
I'm asking this for my friend, so if someone knows where to buy, I'm pleased if answered by PM.

Franzose sells galvinazed chassis for ami/AK350&400 as well. probably not cheap, but from what I know good quality. _________________ I like to play |

No problem here, except for keeping up with demand.
AK400/AK350 type is 8th from the bottom of the stack, Ami is 10th up.
There are quite a few differences between these two types, some of which aren't immediately obvious...

at treffpunkt-citroen.de you find without TUV but this is no prob i think??
http://www.treffpunkt-citron.de
Art.Nr.: 100107
for: AK400
Versand/Abholung:
779,00 EUR
This is a good alternative for "der franzose" in germany _________________ WATCH OUT WHERE THE HUSKIES GO

That is nice there is some suppliers, my friend didn't find any when he tried to find some time ago. There was chassis on Franzose's listing, but they didn't made them anymore...
I'll get these translated to my friend and I'm pretty sure he will order one quite soon... _________________ Make it today, tomorrow it's probably illegal... |

The heaviest, yes...
but the strongest?
Pity that no-one took a video when I torque tested their chassis against a Citroen chassis at a 2CVGB event some years ago.
Its torsional stiffness is actually about 40% of a Citroen chassis, not 'within 2.5%', as claimed in their adverts.
They never attended another 2CVGB event after that incident, where'd they'd been overheard saying that the chassis tested probably didn't have enough pop rivets holding the lower cover plate in place.

It's +15kg.
Several african raid organisators only accept 2 CV with Wheel chassis, because by experience it's the only one which doesn't break... _________________ www.super2cv.com |

which raid organisers?
its been my experience that "wheels" chassis aren't that strong. the shockabsorber mounts are prone to letting go or shearing as they use M12 bolts rather than the original type mounts.

Touareg trail for example :
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KDeh80LAVVc
Heard the wheel chassis wasn't damage after that jump. Only "spring can" exploded but suspension fixation weren't broken. Can't certify, didn't see it...
But I also know than the Texto raid chassis is really similar, Perret 4X4 use Wheel chassis...
And that they are homologated in Belgium (at least).
Can't say more, I never tried but they look strong ! _________________ www.super2cv.com |

Etienne,
this is a little bit bent, surely? ;o)
The text accompanying that video confirms that there was more than a little work for the support team's mechanics...
Driver survived jump, no injuries!
Car had 1 wheelarm broken, chassis bend, 1 flat tire, Suspension broke, and minor other things!
8 hours later he took the first position in the start thanks to a great team of mechanics! Bart, Gene, David, Sven, Luc, Seppe, and mental support of all the others! www.touareg-trail.be
To keep things balanced, any chassis will (or should) deform in a heavy frontal impact, as that will help to limit possible injuries to the driver and other occupants of the car. ( Crumple zone, anyone? )
Here's what a friend did to one of mine, when he took his Dyane airborne *_over_ a stone wall and landed on a large boulder.
* see 2nd photograph for take-off ramp.
The impact was so hard that the headlights were found almost 10 metres away... ;o(

Just the front of the chassis seems bend actually. And heard the car finished the raid with this chassis.
What the point of showing the pics of this crashed Dyane ?
Chassis seems twisted, or what ? _________________ www.super2cv.com |
